Whilst most of us are feeling the effects of the ‘Beast from the East’ all over the UK with snow blizzards and minus temperatures I thought I would blog this week about bringing a bit of Spring into your home.
Ok so we still have a little while to go before Spring in upon us, the first day is 20th March but if you live in the UK then lets face it we could skip Spring /Summer and before we know it we’re back into Autumn and Winter.
There’s few little things that I like to do in the house when Spring arrives despite the horrid weather and bare trees right now!
I always feel like my life is more together when my home is organised, we’ve all heard of the good old Spring clean and nothing brings me more joy then getting rid of all the crap in my house! Where does it come from? Why is there so much of it? These are the questions I ask myself every year when having a good old sort out.
Last year or maybe even the year before I bought a book By Japans expert declutterer Marie Kondo Called The Life Changing Magic of Tidying. It basically talks you through a method called Kon Marie which is an easy method of succesfully tidying and tackling your home. Keeping only what you really love to transform a space which in turn will make you more confident, motivated and create the life you want.
I now follow this method every year just before Spring hits giving all the rooms one by one a really good declutter.
Here’s a few other things that I find can bring all the Spring feels into your home without breaking the bank.
A fresh lick of paint will really transform a room even if it’s the same colour just freshening it up really lifts the space, I’m loving B&Q’s Valspar paint range at the moment and being able to mix and match your paint to a fave cushion gives me all the spring joy a girl needs! Try sunshine Yellows and candy pinks to really brighten up that dull wall in the kitchen!
Something that makes me really happy in Spring is having lots of bunches of Daffs in as many rooms as I can, they’re nice and cheap and it certainly cheers up the house, you can even use old coffee or sauce jars to display them rather than the expense of a vase, a cute ribbon wrapped around the jar and you have yourself a pretty little flower display. I feel like a bunch of flowers along with a scented candle after a good tidy up really pulls everything together.
When it comes to candles I like a fresh scent in the Spring time, Clean Cotton and Floral scents leave my house smelling gorgeous! My faves at the moment are the George home range, Wild Jasmin and Soft Cotton are amazing and what a bargain for only a quid each!!
Lets talk greenary!! I always mention the fact over on my Instagram that I am a total plant killer!! I don’t know what I do or how I do it but the last few months all my plants have left me, including a few succulants!! How do you even kill them?? This however doesn’t stop me buying more and trying to learn from my mistakes whilst making the house look fresh and super green!!
Succulents and house plants add life and a pop or colour to you home, Spring time is the perfect time to pick up a few at the Supermarket on your weekly shop for very little money. Plants add clean oxygen to the room and plants such as Aloe Vera can even aid a restful nights sleep!! I’m yet to find that one out!
Spring fresh bedding is a must for me! The heavy duvet goes into the airing cupboard and the lighter one comes out! I’m loving the spring range at Dunelm right now and I think this pretty bedding would look perfect against grey tone walls to add a pop of colour or crisp white walls for a cute floral feel. I have put this on my Spring faves list!!
Those were just a few ideas to bring Spring into your home this year. Lets hope the weather improves soon and if it doesn’t then at least we can have all the Spring feels inside! I hope you enjoyed all the little Ideas and don’t forget to check out my Instagram for more ideas leading up to Spring.
Keep warm & Safe Guy’s
